The Election Commission has granted permission to international observers to monitor the 2024 Presidential Election.

The Chairman of the Election Commission R.M.A.L. Ratnayake stated that election observers from the European Union (EU) and the Commonwealth have been authorized to monitor the poll.

He said permission has been granted according to a request made by those associations.

Accordingly, it is reported that the election observation teams of the European Union and the Commonwealth are scheduled to visit the island in the coming days.

Meanwhile, the Minister of State for Finance Ranjith Siyambalapitiya says that the money allocated for the upcoming presidential election is sufficient.

The Minister of State points out that even if there are more candidates, it will not be a problem for the presidential election.
