2024 Presidential Election: Placing of deposits to conclude today

The placing of deposits for the 2024 Presidential Election is scheduled to be concluded from 12 noon today (14).

The Election Commission has stated that 36 individuals have already placed deposits to contest in the presidential election.

Among these, are 19 candidates from recognized political parties and one from other political party have placed deposits.

Additionally, 16 independent candidates have also deposited money for the upcoming presidential election.

The acceptance of nominations for the upcoming presidential election is scheduled to begin tomorrow (15) from 9.00 a.m. to 11.00 a.m.

The Acting Police Media Spokesperson DIG Ruwan Gunasekara announced that a special security arrangement will be implemented in the vicinity of the Election Secretariat in Rajagiriya on the day of the nominations acceptance.
