Ex-President Maithripala reveals stance on presidential candidates

Former President Maithripala Sirisena states that he has not decided to support any of the candidates who are contesting the 2024 Presidential Election.

Issuing a statement, Sirisena also refuted certain media reports and the statements made by some politicians of both the ruling party and the opposition regarding him.

Meanwhile, the former President also highlighted that as the issues that has arisen within the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) is currently being resolved in the courts and that the court has not yet given a decision as to who is the president of the party.

Accordingly, he emphasized that only the SLFP’s Chairman has full authority under the party’s Constitution, there is no validity in the appointments and decisions made by any other member of the party.
