EC warns against using national flag, religious symbols in election campaigns

The Election Commission of Sri Lanka has informed political parties and presidential candidates to refrain from using the national flag or any religious symbols for propaganda during election campaigns.  

According to the commission, strict actions would be taken against any parties or individuals that utilize the national flag for propaganda during the presidential campaigns.

The circular issued concerning the preparation of the election offices also instructs in this regard.

The Election Commission further says that the use of any religious symbols for election propaganda is also strictly prohibited.
