22 arrested for election law violations

Police Spokesman DIG Nihal Thalduwa says that 22 individuals involved in illegal activities pertaining to the upcoming presidential election have been arrested to date.

Speaking in a press conference yesterday (04), he also reported that the police have seized 4 vehicles in connection with these activities.

He further stated that Sri Lanka Police have received a total number of 173 election-related complaints.

Accordingly, those are categorized as complaints related to acts of violence and complaints related to election law violations. 

Thus far, 119 complaints related to election law violations and 54 complaints related to acts of violence have been reported while 22 persons have been arrested and 4 vehicles have been seized, DIG Thalduwa said.
