At least 47 persons including apparel factory workers were injured and admitted to the Bibila Hospital after a bus crashed into the back of another bus transporting a group of factory workers at Nagala in Bibila, police said.
According to the Police Spokesman’s Office, the accident had occurred at around 7.30 p.m. today (05) when an SLTB bus had crashed into the back of a private bus, which was traveling from Bibila towards Ampara, on the Bibila-Ampara road in the Nagala area of the Bibila police division.
The private bus was transporting a group of garment factory workers.
Police further stated that the accident occurred when the private bus carrying the factory employees had stopped on the roadside for several passengers to get off and that the SLTB bus had then crashed into the back of it at a high speed.
A total of 47 passengers from both buses were injured and admitted to Bibila Hospital for treatment.
Bibila Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
