The presidential candidate of the ‘Sarvajana Balaya’ alliance, Dilith Jayaweera says that if anyone can declare on the presidential election stage that the lives of the people will change without a doubt after their election to office, it is only the ‘Sarvajana Balaya’ alliance.

Addressing a public rally held at Kirindigala in Balangoda today (06), Jayaweera stated: “In every presidential election, they distributed books. You have seen them. Some of them won... some lost. Those who won did not do anything mentioned in those books. To tell the truth, there is nothing in those books.”

“When we were children we were taught that this country was developing... I truly regret that this country is falling further into the abyss... it doesn’t seem like it’s heading towards the first world. Why is that?... it’s due to this third world politics”, he said.

Commenting further, the ‘Sarvajana Balaya’ presidential candidate expressed: “If you have some time, take these policy statements and read them. Then you will understand why you are still a citizen of a third world country.”

“In Anura Kumara’s book [manifesto], there is the health policy. It starts with the fact that all patients will be given a bed. This is the health policy included in a policy statement presented in this presidential election and it says a bed for you all…I just took one example.”

“A manifesto should contain a vision. It should have a coherent approach. It should be logical. It should contain how your life will change in the next 5 years. Otherwise we will always be in the third world.”

“If anyone can say on the presidential election stage that people’s lives will change without a doubt, it is only the ‘Sarvajana Balaya’ alliance”, he added.
