The Central Bank of Sri Lanka  (CBSL) has relaxed the period for exporters of goods to convert their export proceeds into Sri Lanka Rupees.

Under the new "Repatriation of Export Proceeds into Sri Lanka Rules No. 01 of 2024," published in Gazette Extraordinary No. 2391/02 and approved in Parliament on 04.09.2024, exporters now have more time to convert their export proceeds.

In a statement, CBSL said that previously, exporters were required to convert their proceeds by the seventh day of the following month.

The new rules extend this deadline to the tenth day of the month after three calendar months from the date of receipt of the proceeds.

The full rules can be accessed at www.dfe.lk, it added.
