The presidential candidate of the ‘Sarvajana Balaya’ alliance, entrepreneur Dilith Jayaweera, stated that the time has come to end the ‘thieving’ politics that have kept country’s people in poverty for years.

He made these remarks while addressing a public rally held in Kantale today (10).

Jayaweera emphasized that the public now has an opportunity to end the politics of thieves and the old system that has kept them in poverty for decades.

“Not to make them stars... those are thieves. They are not stars. You are the star of this country. The patriotic youth who loves the country is the star,” said Jayaweera.

He further explained that he is contesting under the symbol of the ‘star’ to promote a programme aimed at making the people stars.

“I don’t want to be a star. I could have been a star if I wanted to. I could have become a star by appearing on that channel, but I had no need for that. I want to see you become a star, see how the children of this country become stars,” Jayaweera added.

Jayaweera also expressed his desire to see the children of the nation become ‘shining stars’ on the global stage and to protect the dignity of citizens who seek employment abroad, particularly those engaged in lower-skilled jobs.
