Man stabs 23-year-old wife to death, injures sister-in-law

A woman has been stabbed to death with a sharp weapon by her husband over a personal dispute in the Pothupitiya area of the Wadduwa police division.

The deceased is a 23-year-old resident of the Pothupitiya area in Gorakagahawatta.

Wadduwa Police had been informed by the ‘119’ Information Centre regarding a woman being assaulted by her husband in their home last evening.

Upon arriving at the scene, the police officers discovered that a woman had been murdered with a sharp weapon, and that another woman had sustained injuries in the attack. 

The injured woman was admitted to the Kalutara Nagoda Hospital for treatment.

It has been revealed that the woman who sustained injuries is the sister of the deceased.

The 34-year-old suspect who has committed the murder has been arrested and Wadduwa Police is conducting further investigation into the incident.
