Minister Vijitha Herath has been appointed as the President’s representative to the Constitutional Council.

The Speaker of the Parliament Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena stated that this nomination was made by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.

The council is scheduled to meet on October 09, for the first time following the election of the new President.

Other members of the Constitutional Council include former Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa, former MP Kabir Hashim, former MP Sagara Kariyawasam and the three civil society representatives.
