Suspect arrested with over 1.8kg Kush cannabis at BIA

A passenger has been arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Katunayake with a stock of Kush cannabis smuggled into the country.
It is reported that the suspect was arrested during a raid conducted by the officers of Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) at the BIA.
At the time of arrest, the suspect was in possession one kilogram and 883 grams of Kush cannabis.
The arrested suspect is a 56-year- old resident of Kotugoda area.
Meanwhile, a suspect has been arrested in possession of 1 kg and 838 grams of crystal methamphetamine (commonly known as ‘Ice’), in Ibbawala area in Midigama.
The raid was carried out based on a tip-off received by the Midigama Police, and the drugs were discovered during a search of an individual who was traveling on a motorcycle.
The arrested suspect is a 20-year-old resident of Weligama area and three other individuals who were present at the time of the operation have fled.
Police are conducting investigations to arrest the relevant suspects.
Meanwhile, in a separate operation, another person has been arrested with 920 grams of crystal methamphetamine (commonly known as ‘Ice’) in the Kosgahadeniya area in Welipenna.
The arrested suspect is a 29 year old resident of Walagedara, police said.
