The Police Media Division stated that a special meeting took place yesterday (3) at the Police Headquarters chaired by the new Secretary to the Ministry of Public Security, Ravi Seneviratne.

The purpose of this meeting was to review the progress of various police investigations concerning high-profile cases of crimes, fraud, and other special crimes that have occurred in the country.

Police stated that the Acting IGP Priyantha Weerasooriya, a group of senior police officials and a group of senior representatives from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) had also joined the discussion.

Meanwhile, special attention has been paid to ongoing investigations, any cases that might have been temporarily halted and whether political factors have influenced those halted investigations.

Additionally, the meeting focused on investigations that have been unnecessarily delayed and whether there are any other new investigations that need to be launched.

Police also mentioned that if any of the investigations have been delayed, they discussed what they are and reasons for the delays.

The Police Media Division stated that several significant investigations were highlighted and a report on the matters related to the discussion will be prepared to carry out the further investigations.
