The case filed against the former State Minister Diana Gamage over allegedly obtaining a passport by producing formed documents was taken up for hearing before the Colombo High Court today (04).

During the proceedings, the state counsel informed the court that it has been decided to add an additional witness to the case and therefore, requested permission to amend the relevant witness list.

The High Court judge, who accepted the request, allowed the relevant witness list to be amended.

President’s Counsel Shanaka Ranasinghe who appeared for the defense stated before the court that he wanted to examine the original birth certificate of the defendant which has been submitted as evidence to the court before the trial began.

Accordingly, the judge also ordered the Director of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to ensure that the relevant document be submitted to the court within a week.

Later, the case was ordered to be called on November 4 for pre-trial conference.

The Attorney General has filed indictments against former State Minister Diana Gamage for fraudulently obtaining a Sri Lankan passport by submitting a National Identity Card forged in the Panadura and Colombo areas between October 9 and December 1, 2004.
