India’s Jaishankar calls on President Dissanayake

The visiting India’s Minister of External Affairs Dr. S. Jaishankar has called on President Anura Kumara Dissanayake in Colombo this afternoon (04).

Posting on ‘X’, Dr. Jaishankar stated that he conveyed the warm greetings of Indian President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the appointment of President Dissanayake.

The Indian External Affairs Minister said he appreciates Dissanayake’s “warm sentiments and guidance” for India-Sri Lanka relations.

He also said that they discussed ways to deepen ongoing cooperation and strengthen India-Sri Lanka ties for the benefit of the people of the two countries and the region.

Meanwhile, the new Sri Lankan president said that the discussions focused on boosting cooperation in tourism, energy, and investment. 

“Dr. Jaishankar reaffirmed India’s support for Sri Lanka’s economic recovery. The importance of continued collaboration on fisheries, security, and national unity was also discussed,” Dissanayake posted on ‘X’.
