Apple Intelligence is landing on eligible iPhones, iPads, and Macs on October 28: report

If you recently bought an iPhone 16 and thought something was missing, you are right, as these devices built for Apple Intelligence don’t include it.

Well, the wait is almost over. As per a Bloomberg report, the iOS 18.1 update encompassing Apple Intelligence will finally land on eligible iPhones on October 28. Not just iPhones, eligible iPads and Macs will also get the software update which would introduce Apple Intelligence on the same day.

The report added that iOS 18.1 was supposed to arrive by mid-October, but Apple has pushed it forward to ensure the update is stable and bug-free. On top of that, the company also needs to ensure that its private cloud computing servers are ready to handle the AI traffic from millions of devices.

iOS 18.1 is a highly anticipated software update by iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 16 series users, which includes Apple’s first set of AI features for iPhones such as text writing/editing tools, new and updated Siri, notification summaries, clean-up photo editing tool, and memory creation in photos.

These are the first wave of Apple Intelligence features coming to eligible iPhones, iPads, and Macs, possibly on October 28. Similarly, Apple will add more AI features in the coming update, including ChatGPT-powered Siri, Visual Intelligence, Genmoji, and an on-device image generator. Considering the timeline, every major iOS 18 release starting with iOS 18.1 will include at least one new Apple Intelligence feature, leading up to the WWDC 2026, where the company is most likely to unveil iOS 19 along with new Apple Intelligence capabilities.

Which iPhones are eligible for Apple Intelligence?

The entire iPhone 16 lineup will gain Apple Intelligence post-iOS 18.1 update, including the entry-level iPhone 16, starting at Rs 79,900, making it the most affordable iPhone eligible for Apple Intelligence. Similarly, last year’s iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 15 Pro Max will also gain AI features.

If you have an iPad or a Mac with any M series Apple Silicon, your devices are eligible for Apple Intelligence. This will include the first Apple Silicon Powered MacBook Air M1 launched in 2020, which was recently available for less than Rs 60,000, and the iPad Pro M1, launched in 2021.
