Sri Lanka Police Media Spokesperson, Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Nihal Thalduwa stated that the police personnel assigned to former President Ranil Wickremesinghe’s security have not been recalled.

Addressing a media briefing, the Police Spokesperson added that currently, 50 Special Task Force (STF) officers and other personnel assigned to Wickremesinghe’s security remain in place.

Commenting further, he said: “Until recently, the security arrangements for both the current president and former presidents were managed by the President’s Security Division. This division allocated the necessary number of officers for the former president’s security.”
