The Meteorology Department says the prevailing showery conditions are expected to continue further due to the development of an atmospheric disturbance in the vicinity of Sri Lanka.

Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern and Northwestern provinces, it said issuing a warning for heavy rainfall.

Very heavy showers of above 200 mm are likely at some places in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Galle and Matara districts, it said.
