The train services on the coastal line have been delayed due to a fire breaking out in the engine of a train near the Kalutara railway station, Sri Lanka Railways said.

The incident has occurred on a train traveling from Kalutara to Maradana, according to the department.

Meanwhile, the derailment of a train between Colombo Fort and Maradana railway stations has delayed train services since this morning (15).

The railway department said that the engine of the Meenagaya Intercity Express Train plying from Batticaloa to Colombo Fort had derailed in this manner at around 7.00 a.m. today (15). This has disrupted train services between Colombo Fort and Maradana.

Accordingly, train services on the main line and the coastal line are experiencing delays owing to this.
