Two arrested over woman’s suspicious death in Mugunuwatawana

A 49-year-old woman found lying on the road in the Mugunuwatawana area on the Chilaw-Kurunegala main road this morning (16) has been pronounced dead after being admitted to the hospital.

Police said that local residents had rushed the woman to the hospital.

The deceased has been identified as a resident of the Mugunuwatawana area, according to police.

Meanwhile, police have arrested two individuals on suspicion over the incident - one person closely associated with the deceased and another who was driving in the area at the time, since the woman’s death was suspicious.

Chilaw Police are continuing investigations to uncover the circumstances surrounding her death.
