Man sentenced to death for 2000 homicide in Galle

After a lengthy trial in the Galle High Court, the verdict in a long-standing homicide case has been announced, with the accused being sentenced to death.

The 50-year-old accused, a resident of the Imaduwa area, was convicted for committing homicide on February 6, 2000, by intentionally electrocuting to death a person using an unauthorized electricity connection in the Koratuhenagoda area within the Imaduwa police division.

The death sentence was handed down yesterday (16) following the conclusion of the trial at the Galle High Court.
