Man arrested for operating illegal firearms workshop in Sooriyawewa

A person operating an illegal firearms manufacturing workshop in Wawegama, Sooriyawewa, was arrested during a raid conducted by the Special Task Force (STF) personnel from the Hambantota camp.

Police reported that a locally-made ‘T-Katas’ type firearm, parts of an unfinished firearm, and other weapon components were found during the operation.

The arrested suspect, a 33-year-old resident of the area, has been handed over to the Sooriyawewa Police Station for further investigation.
