Encouraged by Sri Lanka’s commitment to continue reform efforts - IMF chief

The Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Kristalina Georgieva has met with Sri Lanka’s delegation led by the Governor of the Central Bank, Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe.
The discussion took place on the sidelines of the 2024 Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group (WBG) in Washington DC.
Posting on ‘X’ (formerly Twitter), the IMF Managing Director said that she is encouraged by the Sri Lankan authorities’ commitment to continue the reform efforts to safeguard the hard-won gains under the IMF-supported program.
She further assures that the IMF remains committed to supporting Sri Lanka build a better future for its people.
The Sri Lankan delegation also includes Finance Secretary Mahinda Siriwardena and Senior Economic Advisor to the President Duminda Hulangamuwa.
