Sluice gates opened at Polgolla Reservoir in Kandy

Two sluice gates of the Polgolla Reservoir in Kandy have been opened following heavy rainfall.

The engineer on duty at the Sri Lanka Mahaweli Authority confirmed that the two sluice gates were opened by one meter each. 

The Mahaweli Authority further stated that approximately 140 cubic meters of water per second is being released into the Victoria Reservoir from each sluice gate.
