The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) has announced a series of special raids starting December 15 to safeguard consumers during the upcoming festive season.
According to CAA Director Asela Bandara, a comprehensive inspection program will be implemented nationwide, focusing on major wholesale outlets, warehouses, and retail shops to prevent the circulation of expired products.
The raids will also extend to outlets selling clothing, electronics, and other essential goods, ensuring compliance with consumer protection standards.
Mobile vendors and stores hosting large seasonal sales will come under close scrutiny to curb unfair trade practices and maintain product quality, he added.
Consumers who encounter issues such as expired goods, misleading promotions, or substandard products are encouraged to report their complaints via the CAA”s dedicated hotline at 1977.
