Indonesia’s government is continuing to demand justice in the case of an Indonesian maid allegedly abused by her employers in Saudi Arabia.  The government has called in the Saudi ambassador over the matter.

The Indonesian maid is alleged to have been cut in the face and burnt with an iron by her employers.

Saudi officials say they are investigating and will bring justice, but Indonesia is sending its own team to investigate as well and the presidential spokeman, Dr Teuku Faizasyah, says his government wants to make sure the maid receives proper medical and psychological attention.

“It’s too early to make a general statement based on cases but this is something that we deplore very much as a treatment toward Indonesian or other foreign workers who make a living in Saudi Arabia,” he said.

The case comes a month after allegations that a maid from Sri Lanka also suffered abuse from her Saudi employers, ANN reports.
