New Zealand concluded their innings on a high, posting a competitive total of 172 runs for the loss of eight wickets at the end 20 overs, thanks to a game-changing partnership between Daryl Mitchell and Michael Bracewell. 

After a shaky start that saw New Zealand reeling at 65/5 by the halfway mark, the duo combined for a stellar 105-run stand that revived their innings and shifted the momentum.

Sri Lanka began strongly with the ball, as Binura Fernando delivered an impressive opening spell, claiming two wickets in his first three overs and pushing New Zealand onto the back foot.

Wanindu Hasaranga further tightened the screws after the Powerplay, striking twice in quick succession to leave New Zealand struggling.

Sri Lanka maintained control of the game for the first 10 overs, but the tide turned with the arrival of Bracewell at the crease.

Mitchell led the recovery with a superb knock of 62 off 42 balls, showcasing a mix of calculated aggression and smart shot selection. 
Bracewell provided equally vital support, hammering 59 runs off just 33 deliveries. 

Their partnership was marked by exceptional running between the wickets and powerful hitting, helping New Zealand recover from early setbacks and reach a strong total under challenging circumstances. 

Mitchell was eventually dismissed in the final over, but his efforts, along with Bracewell’s, ensured New Zealand had a defendable target on the board.
