The Minister of Transport has approved the reduction of bus fares by 0.55% effective from July 04, 2025 (Friday), according to the National Transport Commission (NTC).

This bus fare reduction is based on the annual fare revision.

However, the National Transport Commission (NTC) announced that the minimum fare of Rs. 27, the second and the third lowest fares of Rs. 35 and Rs. 45 will remain unchanged.

Issuing a statement in this regard, the National Transport Commission (NTC) noted that the annual bus fare revision for 2025 was expected to be a decrease by 2.5%. However, following the monthly fuel price revision on June 30, 2025, in accordance with the pricing formula, it has been decided to reduce the bus fares by only 0.55%, after adjusting for the change in fuel prices.

The statement further noted that the bus fare reduction will apply to all SLTB and private buses, including semi-luxury, luxury, and expressway bus services.
