Nilu Dilhara Wijedasa, the former Executive Director of the State Engineering Corporation of Sri Lanka (SECSL), has been arrested on bribery allegations.

The arrest was made in connection with alleged misconduct during his tenure, where the former Director of the SECSL is accused of deploying employees and resources of the Corporation—without following proper procedures—for renovation work at the United National Party (UNP) headquarters, ‘Sirikotha.’

According to the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC), the deployment of employees and resources caused a financial loss of over Rs. 1.6 million to the Corporation and resulted in an undue benefit to the UNP.

The suspect was taken into custody at around 11:00 a.m. today (16) by Bribery Commission officials.

He is scheduled to be produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court.
