Zimbabwe opt to bowl first in second T20

Zimbabwe won the toss and elected to bowl first against Sri Lanka in the second T20I of the three-match series at the Harare Sports Club on Saturday.

 

In the first T20I, Charith Asalanka-led Sri Lanka secured a four-wicket win, successfully chasing down Zimbabwe’s 176-run target in just 19.1 overs. 

 

Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis set the tone with a solid 96-run opening partnership, but their foundation was hindered when they lost five crucial wickets for just 29 runs. 

 

Kamindu Mendis stepped up, smashing a 16-ball unbeaten 41, guiding the team to victory.

 

Earlier, Zimbabwe opener Brian Bennett top-scored with 81 off 57 balls to take the team’s total to 175/7 in 20 overs.

 

Sri Lanka will be looking to secure the series in today’s match.
