Subjects and functions of several ministries amended

A gazette notification has been published revising the subjects and functions of several ministries with effect from October 17.

 

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has issued the relevant gazette.

 

Subjects and functions of the Ministries have been amended following the recent cabinet reshuffle of the government.

 

According to the gazette, the Civil Security Department which was under the Ministry of Defence and the Bureau of Rehabilitation under the Ministry of Justice and National Integration have been assigned to the Ministry of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs.

 

Additionally, the Sri Lanka Thriposha Ltd which was under the Ministry of Health has been assigned to the Ministry of Trade, Commerce, Food Safety, and Cooperative Development while the Selacine Media Solutions (Pvt) Ltd which was under the Ministry of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs has been assigned to the Ministry of Health and Mass Media.

 

The Geological Survey and Mines Bureau under the Ministry of Environment has been assigned to the Minister of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development while the Department of Cinnamon Development under the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Lands, and Irrigation has been assigned to the Ministry of Plantation and Community Infrastructure.

 

Meanwhile, steps have also been taken to reorganize the Lanka Electricity Company (Pvt) Ltd under the Ministry of Energy. The four new institutions introduced under the Ceylon Electricity Board restructuring process have also been declared through the new gazette.

 

Furthermore, the subjects of the ministries following the recent cabinet reshuffle have also been published through the gazette notification.
