Matches of the 2025 Women’s One Day Cricket World Cup are scheduled to begin in Sri Lanka from today.
The Women’s World Cup got underway in Guwahati, India on Tuesday (30) while the first match to be held in Sri Lanka will take place today at 3:00 p.m. at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, between the Pakistan and Bangladesh women’s teams.
According to Sri Lanka Cricket, entry to all World Cup matches in Sri Lanka will be free of charge, and gates will open at 1:00 p.m.
This 13th edition of the Women’s One Day World Cup, which began on September 30 will run until November 2.
A total of eight teams are participating, with matches being played at four venues in India and one stadium in Sri Lanka.
The tournament follows a league format, with each team playing seven matches in the group stage.
Out of Sri Lanka’s seven group games, five will be held at the R. Premadasa Stadium and two in India.
In the opening match, the Sri Lanka women’s team lost to India by 59 runs under the Duckworth–Lewis method.
Meanwhile, both the Pakistani and Bangladeshi women’s teams have arrived in Sri Lanka for the upcoming matches.
The teams landed at 8:35 p.m. yesterday via a special flight and officials from Sri Lanka Cricket were present at the Bandaranaike International Airport to receive them.
