Several spells of showers are expected in the Northern, North-central provinces and in the Trincomalee district today (20), the Department of Meteorology said.

Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in other areas of the island after 1.00 p.m., the Met. Department added.

Misty conditions can be expected at some places in the Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva, Western and Southern provinces during the early hours of the morning.

Meanwhile, a low pressure area is likely to form over southeast Bay of Bengal on Saturday (22), the Met. Department warned.

The low pressure area may intensify further and likely to move near the Northern coast of Sri Lanka.

Accordingly, the general public has been requested to be attentive to future forecasts and bulletins issued by the Department of Meteorology in this regard.
