Steps have been taken by the Ministry of Public Administration to amend letters of appointment regarding pension entitlements for officers appointed to the public service on or after January 1, 2016.

It is stated that the relevant circular has been issued by the Secretary of the Ministry, S. Alokabandara, to all ministry secretaries, provincial chief secretaries and heads of departments.

Accordingly, steps have been taken to amend the provisions on pensions in the appointment letters of all public officers appointed to the public service on or after January 1, 2016.

Under the amendment, all public officers are entitled to pensions, and in the future, the appointment letters of officers appointed to the public service must also include this revised provision on pensions, as underscored by the Ministry of Public Administration, Provincial Councils and Local Government.
