A shooting incident has been reported in the Midigama area last night (18) at around 11.40 p.m.

The shooting had targeted a residence located in the Yahuwatta, Gangoda area of Midigama, according to police.

No casualties were reported as a result of the incident, however, the house had sustained property damage, police stated.

Police stated that the attack was carried out by two unidentified gunmen who had arrived on a motorcycle.

According to residents, the suspects had opened the gate, entered the premises, set fire to a car parked in front of the residence, and then had carried out approximately five gunshots.

Police suspect that the shooting was carried out by associates of the underworld figure known by the alias “Midigama Lansi,” allegedly over a dispute involving the 35-year-old businessman who owns the house, which had reportedly arisen at a gym.

At the time of the incident, the businessman, his wife, their two children, and another adult were inside the residence.
