Cricket in Sri Lanka has deteriorated along with the country’s politics while special consideration should be given to the information revealed about cricket corruption by former Captain, Kumar Sangakkara, Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe stated.
Speaking to the media today (July 11) at a press conference in Colombo, he said that even though there were links between politicians and cricket when the UNP government was in power, cricket was never as politicized as it is now.
He added that the government and its media channels had taken steps to hurl accusations at Mahela Jayawardena and Thilan Samaraweera following a loss in a World Cup group stages while stating that investigations must be carried out regarding SLC transactions.
