Strike in Colombo Central Postal Exchange

Workers in the registration division of the Colombo Central Postal Exchange have launched a strike protest from 12noon today (Oct. 01) due to a problematic situation which had risen in regard to the implementing of night shifts.
Therefore registration division workers have discontinued all duties from 12noon, president of the Ceylon Postal Services Union, Jayantha Wijesinghe said.
He pointed out that even though discussions pertaining to the issue were held with officials, they had proved unfruitful.
The island wide distribution of registered post has been badly affected as a result of the trade union action, Wijesinghe emphasized.
