The Ministry of Petroleum Industries today (Nov. 01) stated that even though tenders have been called for 2600 metric tons on substandard petrol, they are inappropriate to be used for vehicles.

The 2600 metric tons of petrol, remainder of the controversial 20,000 metric tons imported by the CPC, is inappropriate to be distributed to consumers, a committee appointed to look into the matter had recommended.

“Tenders have been called for the stock of 2600 metric tons of petrol under the condition that they are in no manner to be used for vehicles.” a release issued by the Ministry of Petroleum Industries stated.

A committee of experts had been assigned the task of finding out a good use to the remaining substandard petrol.

This committee had recommended that open tenders be called for the petrol stock and to provide it to appropriate purchasers in order to cover the losses incurred by importing the fuel shipment, the Ministry said.
