Children being sold through shelter in Moratuwa

The National Child Protection Authority (NCPA) uncovered information regarding a racket operating in Moratuwa under the guise of a children’s home through which children were being sold to foreign countries.

 

The NCPA raided the premises in Rawathawatta which was registered as a children’s shelter yesterday (November 23) and found that although only 42 children were registered at the shelter 63 children were living at the home during the time of the raid.

 

NCPA Chairman Anoma Dissanayake stated that 31 pregnant mothers were also living at the home.

 

Meanwhile, the NCPA has requested the Inspector General of Police for the assistance of the CID in uncovering more details regarding this case.
