VIDEO: Coupons provided but not fuel subsidy - UNP

The government has taken no steps to compensate the family of the fisherman killed and the families of those injured during the protest in Chilaw against the recent fuel price hike, says the United National Party.
Criticizing the manner in which the fishermen’s protest was handled, UNP MP Palitha Range Bandara accused the government of having absolutely no knowledge of crowd control laws.
Speaking at a press briefing today (12) the Puttalam District MP claimed that even thought the government has provided fishermen with fuel subsidy coupons, the fuel stations do not grant the subsidy when the coupons are presented.
The cause for this, he stated, was due to the government not allocating funds for the fuel subsidies.
