Condemning Minister Maithripala Sirisena’s recent remarks that Ranil Wickramasinghe had provided information to former President Kumaratunga to ensure the defeat of Gamini Dissanayake in the 1994 election, the UNP challenged the Minister to prove his allegations.
18 years have passed since the Presidential Election in 1994 and Minister Sirisena has suddenly woken up from his slumber spouting nonsense for petty political goals, slammed UNP General Secretary Tissa Attanayake.
He said that the UPFA election campaign in the Polonnaruwa District, which he claims will suffer a large defeat in the next Local Government election, is led by Maithripala Sirisena.
“After this election loss Mathripala’s dream of becoming Prime Minister will start to fade and therefore he is begging for the votes of the people who love Gamini Dissanayake,”Attanayake said in a release today.
He further accused the Sirisena of making such statements to cover-up the corruption and inefficiency of his Health ministry.
