Govt. denies avoiding political solution for Tamil community

The government denied allegations made by the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) of not being ready to provide a political solution to the Tamil community of the country.

 

External Affairs Minister, Prof. G.L. Peiris stated that a Parliamentary Select Committee was appointed in order to find solutions to the problems face by the Tamil community.

 

The TNA stated to Indian media that the government was not willing to provide the Tamil people a political solution while it was appointing Parliamentary select committees to avoid providing such solutions.

 

Meanwhile, the TNA is set to travel to India today (October 10) on the invitation of the Indian government.

 

Indian media channels reported that the TNA hopes to influence the India to put pressure on the Sri Lankan government to provide a political solution for the Tamil people.
