
An archaeological investigation has been launched on the human remains found near the Matale Hospital premises in November upon the request of the Matale Judicial Medical Officer.
A host of human remains including skeletal remains and skulls were found in the Matale General Hospital premises on November 23 when the area was being prepared for a new building for the biogas unit.
Professor Raj Somadeva of the Post Graduate Institute of Archaeology stated that the investigation was called upon by the Judicial Medical Officer of Matale.
