
Fourteen persons including two Australian women were injured in two separate accidents in Hatton and Walasmulla areas.
Four persons were injured after a three-wheeler toppled down a precipice in Malliappuwa on the Nuwara Eliya main road at around 7.30pm yesterday, police said.
The injured have been admitted to the Dikoya Hospital while a woman and a 1-year-old child are said to be in critical condition.
Meanwhile a head-on collision between a van and a car in Wepathaira, Hakmana left 10 persons injured, including two Australian women. The wounded have been admitted to the Gangodagama Hospital.
The passengers in the van, including a small child, were on their way to a wedding in Walasmulla when the accident had occurred.
The driver of the car, a resident of Sri Pada, has been arrested over the incident.
