Wennappuwa PS member arrested for assaulting woman

Wennappuwa Pradeshiya Sabha member, Rukman Colombage has been arrested by police for allegedly assaulting a woman.
The assault had taken place last evening in the Boralesgamuwa area while the suspect was arrested by Wennappuwa Police last night, Ada Derana reporter said.
The assault victim, a resident of Galawatta in Wennappuwa, has been admitted to the Marawila Hospital.
The hospitalized woman informed police that the PS member had punched her in the stomach and chest and before that had threatened another person after producing a local-made “Galkatas” firearm.
The local politician is to be produced before the Marawila Magistrate.
