A man was stabbed to death by a close friend following an argument after they had consumed alcohol last night in the Koswatta area in Wennappuwa, police said.
The deceased has been identified as Hettiarachchilage Padmasiri (42), a resident of Lunuwila.
He had consumed alcohol last night with a friend and were returning when they had argued and brawled on the street, Ada Derana reporter said.
Finally the suspect had stabbed the deceased, police uncovered.
A police team was dispatched to the location following information received by the police emergency hotline and the victim was rushed to the Marawila Hospital. However, he was pronounced dead upon admittance to hospital.
The victim’s friend has been arrested over the incident while Koswatta Police is conducting further investigations.
