Opposition Leader Ranil Wickramasinghe today stated that it is the responsibility of the United National Party is to be among the people and with the people. Enlisting members for the party is one step towards that, he said.
After members are enlisted the party’s organizers, local government members, Provincial Council members and Parliamentarians have to be in their respective divisions and their people, he told reporters during the UNP’s Membership Drive Programme held in the Kandy District today.
“If there is anyone who cannot do this, I will have to replace them with someone who can,” Wickramasinghe said.
UNP leader stated that that is the reason he needs people who do this “full-time” and not part-time, half-time or contractors.
Therefore we are building the “People’s Regiment” as the next step with Vipkashaye Virodaya and with those giving leadership to the village we will commence our protest campaign, he said.
