All Island Private Bus Owners’ Union Federation today alleged a conspiracy between transport authorities and private bus union leader Gemunu Wijeratne to ruin the private bus industry.
A suspicion arises whether there is a conspiracy between authorities and the President of the Lanka Private Bus Owners’ Association, Gemunu Wijeratne to ruin the bus industry, secretary of the federation Anjana Priyanjith said.
He stated that bus fares have not been increased since the 20% hike in February last year and that day by day it is proving more difficult continue their industry.
If concessions or a bus fare hike is not provided following the increase in diesel prices, it gives rise to suspicion whether there is a conspiracy involving Gemunu Wijeratne and the relevant authorities, he said.
