A no confidence motion is set to be brought forward to the parliament against Foreign Employment Minister Dilan Perera, the UNP stated today (April 18).
Speaking at a press conference held today in Colombo, Western Provincial Council UNP member Ajith P. Perera stated that the Minister had stayed quiet while Rizana Nafeek was put to death and added that the Minister was only capable of attending Avurudu parties and conferences abroad instead of look after the interests of Sri Lankans employed abroad.
Therefore, the UNP will put forward a no confidence motion against the Minister on May 7 in parliament, he added.
The Provincial Councilor stated that 765 Lankans were stranded under a bridge in Jeddah where a Lankan embassy is closely situated but not even a drink of water has been provided for the languishing masses.
He questioned the government as to why a plane could not be sent to Jeddah to bring back the Sri Lankans suffering there while planes with very few passengers were being welcomed at the Mattala airport.
