Several parts of the island will experience continued rains today (May 13) due to the cyclonic storm ‘Mahasen’, the Meteorological Department stated.
It further stated that fishermen should avoid going out to sea off the Eastern and Northern coast.
The Met Department explained that the storm was currently in the southwest of the Bay of Bengal and about 650km northeast of Trincomalee traveling away from the island.
Due to this situation, strong winds, rough seas and rains could be experienced from Mannar to Trincomalee and across Jaffna to Batticaloa.
The Met Department also stated that several areas on the island will experience cloudy skies.
